Water Softener Demand 64000 Grains 2 Tank with Isobar II Vortech 1 Inch FNPT Stainless Steel 12 to 3.5 Gallons Per Minute 125 PSI.

How Does A Whole Home Water Softener Work

Hard water will occur if there are excess minerals, such as, magnesium and calcium in the water.  A water softener will neutralizes these minerals.  Water softeners will filter your water through a separate tank in your home or business filled with salts.  The sodium ions in the salt bind to the other minerals leaving you with water that taste great and is safe to drink.

Water Quality by the "Eye Test" Method Is Not Recommended

While the tap water you drink may look clean, it may very likely contain harmful contaminants.  Those contanimants may include lead, pesticides or harmful pollutants from many residential or commercial sources.  So, it is not suggested to do the “eye test” when evaluating your water purity, but call C&S Well Service to test your water and give you an accurate water quality evaluation.

Troubleshooting Information

Dissolved chemcials in drinking water usually is not desirable and may point to some issues with broken pipes, rust in pipes, or other problems in your water supply.  Color in drinking water will draw immediate attention, as it should, and can be caused by dissolved and suspended materials.  Brown colored water usually can be identified from observing rust in a pipe.  It is common to have a brown colored water due to ozidized iron, or rust, dislodged from the repair of leaky pipes or replacement of water pipes adjacent to old rusty pipes.  When you observe discolored water, it is prudent to call C&S Well Service to investigate the problem and provide a solution before more costly repairs are incurred due to neglect.

Hard Water

Soft Water

One of the most common water problems is that of hard water.  Hard water is a result of a high amount of dissolved minerals in the water and can be identified from the following signs:

  • Bathtub & Toilet Bowl Rings
  • Clogged Pipes
  • Spots on Dishes & Utensils
  • Clothes, Towels & Other Items From The Washer That Appear Dingy, Yellow or Rough.
  • Bad Smelling & Tasting Water
  • Difficulty Lathering Soap

When hard water mixes with shampoo or soap it forms a congealed substance which leaves a film on your skin.  The image to the right reflects the impact that hard water had on a shower head.

Soft water contains sodium and no other dissolved minerals.  Soft water lathers better and items are left cleaner when one uses soft water, and tubs, toilets, dishes and shower curtains are not blemished by scum.  If your water is too soft it can cause damage to your equipment.
